Since using this with my family, our teeth have never felt cleaner! We spent a very happy trial period testing out each batch to get it just right before I released it, and I am so happy to finally introduce it after sampling it at a recent festival and receiving great feedback!
I wish that everyone could have seen the giggles from my kiddos as they scrubbed their mouths with “the green powder”, yelling out “Momma, your’s is the best tooth stuff ever!” Yes, green…this beneficial concoction turns a beautiful dark green when it hits the mouth, feels clean and green, minty fresh, and (to add one last kid quote), after using it “my teeth feel so clean that I could ice skate on them!” Hey, anything that gets kids excited to brush their teeth, works for me, and I couldn’t be happier with the result of this product!
It is free of artificial sweeteners, fluoride (although this is controversial, the warning label on toothpaste saying to call a poison control center immediately if ingested scares me enough), Triclosan (which is in most toothpaste and can affect proper heart function), Glycerin (another controversial one, but some research found that it can coat teeth and prevent them from benefiting from mineral intake), and Surfactants (what makes a paste foam and lather can cause mouth ulcers and canker sores), as well as artificial colors dyes, or flavors.
Now, I am not a doctor, but I do my research, and if a considerable amount of ingredients in traditional toothpaste are harmful, an FDA approval is not convincing me of safety in those products. I want natural.
So what is in it?? I didn’t want just an average three ingredient natural tooth powder that works in a pinch. I wanted the best, a remineralizing powder that detoxifies the gums, drawing out toxins, that is alkaline and full of minerals, and nourishing for the teeth. The ingredients include bentonite clay, calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, activated charcoal, stevia, dried peppermint, rosemary, lavender, licorice root, spirulina, cinnamon, and cloves (all organic), dead sea salt, and organic peppermint essential oil.

“Bentonite is very unusual in the fact that once it becomes hydrated, the electrical and molecular components of the clay rapidly change and produce an “electrical charge”. Its highest power lies in the ability to absorb toxins, impurities, heavy metals and other internal contaminants. Bentonite clay’s structure assists it in attracting and soaking up poisons on its exterior wall and then slowly drawing them into the interior center of the clay where it is held in a sort of repository.” Basically, it is a sponge for toxins.
Sodium Bicarbonate is alkaline, contains minerals, and helps to remove stains.
Calcium Carbonate whitens as it provides extra calcium and minerals.
Activated Charcoal has been found to change the pH and health of the mouth, making it effective in preventing cavities and killing the bad bacteria present in tooth decay and gingivitis. It has also been found to whiten and remove stains on teeth.
Cinnamon and Clove are naturally antibacterial, discouraging bacterial growth in the mouth (and add to the great taste).
Spirulina has been proven effective in reducing dental plaque and gingivitis, as it is antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal. This is what gives my powder the GREEN, although you can’t see it turn green until it’s in your mouth.
Rosemary, Lavender and Peppermint dried leaf and flower powders are added to counteract inflammations and care for sensitive gums.
Sea Salt both whitens teeth naturally and maintains healthy gums. Very little is used, but I wanted the extra benefits.
Stevia is added for a subtle, natural sweetness and Peppermint oil for a subtle freshness.
This comes packaged in a re-useable, thick wall, frosted 2oz glass container. You have the option of adding a bio-degradable bamboo toothbrush if you would like.
This jar provides enough powder for approximately a three month supply, but of course this varies based on your brushing habits. This is estimated for use twice a day.
As always, perform a patch test prior to using any new product and do not use if you have any known allergies to any of the above ingredients.
